Remote Weather Stations
A weather station for a remote site requires specific features in order to perform at its best. You need a weather station that is:
Environdata’s Weather Stations weather stations are located at remote sites ranging from the middle of the Simpson Desert, to islands off the North West Pilbara coastline, from the tropics of Cape Tribulation in far north Queensland to the icy winds of the western coast of Tasmania.
Environdata have built in extensive flash memory (non-volatile) to our new range of weather stations. The Weather Maestro, WeatherMate 3000, and WeatherMaster 3000 all have more than 12 months of data storage with a typical program. Summaries are available at 10 minute, hourly and daily intervals.
Imagine a work site in a remote area, where accessibility or the ability to perform work is severely hampered following rain events. With an Environdata Weather Station and a Next G modem plus SMS alerts, you can be advised of the suitability of a particular site, before the decision is made to send a bus-load of workers out. With the savings from being able to better plan work, your weather station will pay for itself very quickly.
Environdata has developed a range of telemetry options to simplify the process of data collection from your remote weather station:
When it comes to installation of your remote site weather station, it is important to have a system designed to assemble as a complete unit so the installation goes smoothly and there is no need to visit the site twice. We are the designers and manufacturers, so when you receive your weather station from us you know that your weather station will fit together, you will receive all the correct parts down to the nuts and bolts necessary to complete the installation.
We regularly install our weather stations on behalf of our customers and have first-hand experience, which has enabled us to refine our design over the last 30 years.
If you need to install a ten metre Mast for wind speed and direction sensors (to meet Australian Standards) at a remote site the last thing you want to deal with is a crane or elevated work platform. Our ten metre mast is installed at ground level with no need for working at heights and is ideal for a weather station on difficult terrain or in the middle of nowhere.
All Environdata’s Weather Stations are suitable for powering via solar power, to keep the system running constantly year after year. The solar panels are an ideal option for powering a remote weather station, with or without telemetry.
Environdata’s Remote Weather Stations are designed to provide you with a long operating life, which we expect to be 15 years or more. In most cases these weather stations will only require an annual maintenance and calibration check.
Environdata is able to further simplify the process with a full Installation, commissioning and training service available. This ensures your system is installed correctly and up and running as efficiently as possible. Installations in remote areas are no problem and we can also offer annual service and calibration visits to site to keep your system running correctly.
