Montajar's work focuses on recycling carbon-rich waste—like tires and plastics—into renewable carbon for Li-ion and Na-ion battery anodes.
With Australia consuming 465,000 tonnes of tires in 2018 (projected to hit 548,000 tonnes by 2030), Montajar's approach tackles both environmental waste and battery sustainability. By turning waste into value, his research supports global sustainability goals (SDG 7 & SDG 12) and contributes to a cleaner, more efficient energy future.
